Toronto, Canada - in another industry first, Luminous Media has partnered with Astral Media to help execute their first electroluminescent billboard campaign. The ten foot by twenty foot sign sits atop a key piece of Astral’s Toronto OOH real estate and catches plenty of eyes through the use of electroluminescent animation:
This is also the first use of electroluminescent technology for Mercedes-Benz in Canada. The creative was produced by SGL Communications for BBDO Toronto, and is hosted by Astral Media Outdoor.
In another industry first, Luminous Media has again lead the way in the development of electroluminescent technology with the world’s first execution of high-gloss, ultra-thin electroluminescent technology:
Up to 50% thinner than regular electroluminescent technology, which regularly measures between 4-6mm Luminous Media’s new ultra-thin signage also features a new printing process which allows for a high-gloss finish and very rich colour which bursts out for ultimate audience impact.
This campaign is posted throughout Tokyo’s train stations for ANA Crown Plaza Hotels in a campaign promoting the comfort and revitalization guests will experience during their stay. The ability to illuminate and animate the rainbow of flowers with Luminous Media’s electroluminescent advertising technology was the perfect fit for the campaign, as it expresses exactly what the advertisement is saying.
A-Channel News recently spent time with Luminous Media to talk about electroluminescent advertising technology. See the video below for their detailed coverage of EL technology and its importance to the advertising industry:

Sean Gordon, Staff Reporter for the Toronto Star recently covered Luminous Media Canada and the electroluminescent transit campaign posted in Montreal’s subway system. Please click the following link to read the story (link opens in new window.)
April 15th, 2008 - Luminous Media Canada, the company that produced the world’s first electroluminescent billboard campaign has achieved another massive industry milestone — Canada’s first electroluminescent transit campaign.
Hosted by Metromedia Plus, and installed throughout Montreal’s busy subway system, these six and a half foot by four foot animated posters reinforce exactly why Luminous Media continues to revolutionize Out-of-Home advertising.
Cossette’s Identica Branding is the powerhouse behind the striking creative, which is for the Pontiac Vibe campaign. Luminous Media Canada, in collaboration with Metromedia Plus, was given the task of bringing the advertisement to life. The Vibe campaign uses Luminous Media’s electroluminescent technology for ultimate audience impact. With EL, Luminous Media is able to create paper-thin advertisements which light up and flash in any custom sequence.
Playing on the style of neon signage, Luminous Media focused on piping powerful red through the creative, a seamless design which when fully lit reveals itself as the city skyline. Using more than thirty-five frames of illumination the sign finishes with the illumination of the ad’s tagline “Vivez La Vibe”, along with the Pontiac logo and the car’s headlamps.
“It’s an important first for Canada,” said Michael Micacchi, Director of Operations for Luminous Media Canada, “Canada was home to the world’s first EL billboard campaign, and now we’ve achieved another industry milestone with Canada’s first EL transit campaign.”
The campaign is posted throughout Montreal’s subway network, and is slated to run until the middle of May.
March 3, 2008 - Nature’s Best pet food from Science Diet in partnership with Luminous Media has just executed their latest retail advertising campaign. Science Diet realized that by advertising with electroluminescent technology they could broadcast an incredible amount of information in just a few seconds.
Posted in pet chains across the United States, Science Diet was able to create illuminated, flashing advertising that caught the attention of shoppers. While the animation is straight forward, the simple ability to create emphasis on specific areas made it possible for Science Diet to stress the numerous benefits of its product.
In a retail advertising environment featuring countless products all fighting for attention, the Science Diet electroluminescent advertisement is a prime example of how Luminous Media guarantees its clients stand out above the rest.
The Luminous Media office in Ireland just unveiled their latest campaign to the public, a transit execution posted through Dublin promoting the popular energy drink Lucozade. Playing on a ‘battery’ theme, the creative in this campaign equates the Lucozade brand to being just as electrifying.
Instead of relying on a static print and hoping people would get a little kick out of the ad, Lucozade took control and commissioned Luminous Media to bring the creative to life. Using animation and illumination to literally fill the lucozade bottlesbatteries the ad delivers a real energizing punch to everyone who sees it.
Luminous Media Canada is proud to announce the addition of Michael Bergemann to its sales force. Michael joins Luminous Media Canada as National Sales Executive, backed by a proven history in advertising sales and client management.

Nokia, in partnership with our Luminous Media office in Ireland recently executed this electroluminescent outdoor Christmas campaign to promote the new Nokia 3110. This campaign is a prime example of the versatility of electroluminescent technology from Luminous Media - this campaign packed a punch by including EL transit, EL billboards and in-store EL retail signage.
Another great benefit of electroluminescent technology from Luminous Media is the ability to take control over your retail advertising efforts. In a sea of signage and other things fighting for a customers’ attention it is becoming increasingly difficult to get your product noticed. That’s why Philips commissioned Luminous Media to produce these signs for use in retail environments across Europe. The signs are in promotion of the new Philips Aurea televisions which feature ambient lighting depending on what is happening on screen, making Luminous Media a perfect advertising partner for this campaign.
Illuminating the same way the new Aurea televisions do (through flashes and fades) Luminous Media was able to recreate the same ambience and put it into sign-form.
